Finally one teen is awake! Off to Walmart we go to get a newspaper! I was hoping there will be tons of back to school sale ads, but there's nothing this week?
Anyway, If you have not tried the renting DVD at Movie cube or Redbox you need to start checking it out! I save approx. $12/week even on new release movies (in addition to free rental coupons I get from various websites). My brother in New Jersey is a raving fan of netflix and I should check it out - -my only concern is that we don't have internet access in the second floor music room - -so for the meantime -- this will work.
For lunch I am making a spanish inspired beef dish. I remember how our maid in Manila will spend long hours using traditional method of simmering the beef in tomotoes... and it's always worth the wait (why didn't she use a tomato paste and cut the cooking time I wonder?).
Today, I did my short version and added veggies to make it a one dish meal. Here's how my 20 minutes version looked like:
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb sirloin, cut in cubes
1 onion
1 cup carrots
1 can potato
1 can tomato sauce
2 tbsp beef seasoning
1 cup green bell pepper
salt
pepper
ESTIMATE COST: $7 - $9
STEP 1: Season beef with salt and pepper. Fry until golden brown. Add onion and carrots and cook for another 3 minutes
STEP 2: Stir in tomato sauce, carrots and green bell pepper. Cook for another 3 minutes
STE 3: Serve with rice
