Today, my youngest, G3 planned for a big sleepover party and I want to make this sleepover special! It's a "no occasion party" for seven 15- 16 year olds and knowing how much they are looking forward to this weekend, I planned a special treat to these young ladies.
To break from the traditional pizza for dinner, I will be setting up a chocolate dessert bar, and of course .. deep dark chocolate will be the main event. Trusting my old reliable Hershey's book, here's an easy moist cake recipe that we enjoy year after year!
1 3/4 cups all purpose flout
3/4 cup Hershey's cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Butter cream frosting
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease pan
- In a large mixer bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. beat in medium speed for 2 minutes
- Remove from mixer, stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pan
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely and add frosting ( optional)
Again, this cake is moist, specially on the inside - - yum! I usually make this as a snack on Sundays with mini chocolates on top and it will be good as is. But today should be the frosted version. It's only 8AM ..no rush..I will make it in the afternoon. Here's how:
Add: 2 2/3 cups powdered sugar,1/2 cup Hershey's coca, 1/3 cup milk (alternately). Beat well. Add 1 tsp vanilla. Add more milk if needed. And place on top of cooled cake.
