Drama Tween/Teen Dilemma:
With swimsuit season coming up...I need to lose one size I gained during the winter season. I used to be size 5, but now I am size 7 and I feel I should stop eating so I can lose 5 lbs in one week as my friends think I am overweight!
IF I AM THE DRAMA TWEEN/TEEN:
My lovely tween, your body is still developing! You need as much nutrients - -forget what your friends are saying! Our weight (and our size) fluctuates during this important developmental stage (also we get bloated when our period is coming remember?) ...but if you feel the need to diet..the best you can do is to exercise more frequently and lessen the carb intake (pasta, rice ) and sweets (ice cream, soda) ..if you can.
My tweens jog one mile everyday and usually take a light snack in between meals (cereals, oat, granola bars). They wear size 5 and I think they look healthy and pretty! Tell your mom to stop buying doughnuts and those yummy pies! (hmmm..i should !) so you will not be tempted to eat those sweet junk while watching TV or working on your math problems!
You are pretty as you are now...but if you force yourself to try to be more cognizant of other healthy alternatives for snacks (like carrots, celery, raisins, nuts,granola bars, apples etc), I am sure you will lose the size! I am 40 and still a size 0P and weigh 95 lbs!. I am the weird person and NOT you! You dont have to be a stick figure like I am - - but if you follow a balanced diet, eat well and drink lots of water .... You'll be ready in that yellow polka dot bikini by summer!
